I suspect the point spread is even wider than this, given the fact that Carney is likely to woo centrist Conservative voters (of which there are quite a few) in any upcoming election. The amount of voters who now align Conservative over Liberal for no other reason reason than they "hate Trudope", is astounding.

We are about to see how much Carney is willing to (justifiably) put on Poilievre, and how much he will keep to himself. His speaking style is moderate, but actions always speak louder than words. I fully expect action at this point. Words are meaningless to me.

"Every right-wing victory drags the world further backward."

Well said. I'm beginning to understand this in a very real, not-theoretical way.

It feels odd to cheer for a country not my own, but I know in

my heart I'm cheering people who stand up to bullies. Which is powerful and often...contagious!

You’re welcome, Canada. Now aren’t you going to thank us? Do you ever say thank you? *

-your southern neighbors whose ability to pick the wrong person to lead is unparalleled. We’re the ones who inspired you to not go goose stepping into the future.

*heavy sarcasm here.

Why not Chrystia Freeland?

To much baggage with Trudeau plus the right have been screaming about her “ties to Ukraine and Nazism”. None of which should make any difference but Misogyny and stupidity is a definite component of the Right!

Two words: Kim Campbell

Campbell was an anomaly who was put into the office when Mulroney resigned under a major cloud and extremely declining popularity. At only 12% support anyone who took over the leadership of the Conservatives was going to be a sacrificial lamb because everyone knew the Conservatives were finished. And while Jean Charest ran against her it still took two ballots for her to win.

Even that was a major achievement, but to this day she is still the only woman to have served as Canada’s PM.

She was one hell of an accomplished woman!

And sadly while Canada has a better record that a lot of other countries misogyny still exists here. When it comes to women’s equality we still have MILES TO GO!

Thanks Alexis, Kim had my attention even as a conservative. She was “poisoned” by Mulroney, as Chrystia was by Trudeau. And yeh, Chrystia doesn’t have what voters prefer (male parts)

And Chrysta Freedman is a huge asset for the Liberals... tough, smart, hugely esmxoerienced, international cred. She should be right out front with Carney...

Thanks Shankar, I’ve followed Mark Carney since 2008 and all thru Brexit. IMO he displays strong confidence and a calm presence. He’ll be able to get Canadians to see what the best policies are.
