I take all this with a large "grain of salt". Nothing concrete has come from this yet. It's said that whomever talks to Trump last determines what he will do...until someone else comes along. Zelensky and Europe had better plan to formulate their own plans. When he talks to Putin next he'll change his tune. Don't trust him.

lets see, we are on our way towards day 100. US sanctions are still in place. That will do for now.

I agree with the need for salt. But actually this time it is ok if nothing comes out of it. Trump simply leaving things as they are would be a better option than him actually supporting Russia (more). And yes Zelensky and Europe needs to act.

Like asking a toddler if you want to eat cereal or bread, she will say bread but if you reverse it, she’s gonna say cereal

That is a huge admission from Trump. I don’t remember a similar instance. He is supposedly too smart for that.

I know. you caught that. That is why I thought this is big. A clear reversal. He is trained to not admit a mistake. Very odd. Lets see. But odds are very high because of that one sentence that we may have survived a round two hit (stopping US intelligence).

He must be really shaken to acknowledge even to himself anything of this kind.

Yeah. Trump said words. Watch what he DOES.

We know all too well by now his words are meaningless.

Grassley is a quisling, and a wimpy one at that. He wants a nice Iowa-friendly Reich. FCK him.

Let's hope Trump can sustain this realization that Putin is playing him. And that more Senate Republicans muster the courage to back Ukraine. We should be supporting Ukraine's right to regain every inch of its land stolen by Russia. Ukraine has the right to self-determination, and supporting Ukraine will be to our benefit ultimately, as it is a country with enormous promise, and a strong military. Supporting the dead-end Russian regime is not in our interest. Supporting terrorism makes us terrorists, too, and it will be our undoing internationally and domestically.

Putin might say "OK my buddy Trump, I will stop bombing, let's get a deal" and then sticks to his demand to recognize Crimea and also the newly occupied parts. What would Trump do ? Since he isn't bothered about handing over not just Crimea but also new territory, Trump might tell Zelensky "The bombing has stopped, reach a deal now or I am walking away".

Trump loves Vladimir too much - he sees Putin and himself as the persecuted poor guys in the 2016

Trump is a very slow learner. The rest of the world has known this for quite a while.

Trump is as Trustworthy as a Mojave Rattler in August: he says whatever strikes his pudding brain at the time.

I truly believe he will never let go of Putin...nor will Trump ever, ever confront Putin. Trump and Nazi Vance's idea of a peace plan has always been to hand over to Putin as much as possible from Ukraine...all the while deny as much as possible to Ukraine.

How could any one could think that this lying Fascist 47-Git' would ever make a peace deal fair. Is beyond me.

Bottom line - any one who supports Trump is unequivocally ' mental.'

If you understand that Trump hedges every bet so that he can always claim he's on the winning side of the deal, what he does makes more sense.

No, just because he said something does not mean he reversed course. Reversing course means he reversed course.

Great article. I agree, the import is that he never admits he may have been wrong about anything. So it is unusual and hopeful.

I've never trusted Putin since the day he first came to office back in 2000. The very first thing he did was to start burning all non-governmental cooperation with the West, and then he broke bilateral governmental cooperation on the environment, and it just went on from there.
