Well said Shankar. Musk has a lot of the same qualities as Trump; failed businessmen who succeed in spite of their lack of business acumen and stupidity.

Let’s not forget that Musk was fired as CEO of PayPal (lasted six months) before Thiel took the reins and turned the company into a Unicorn.

And in 2010, after the financial crash, Musk was leveraged to the hilt, and about to file for Chapter X1; and only the luck of the Irish could turn him into the richest man in the world. And ironically, it would be Obama’s Green Initiative and the $7,500 EV credit, that would provide the “subsidies” to make Tesla Great Again, and save Musk’s broke ass.

That said, instead of being humble and appreciative of everything America has provided for his ultimate success, he becomes the poster child for narcissistic, egocentric sociopathic behavior, that would lead to the predicament we find ourselves facing today.

Musk’s super power was his ambition and innovative ideas. He’s not a great engineer. He didn’t start Tesla, and he was never a capable or accomplished businessman. He rose from the ashes on the backs of other accomplished entrepreneurs, and succeeded in spite of his own shortcomings.

Lastly, Musk, like Trump is a brand, and unfortunately their legend has become Truth, instead of the other way around. And that’s how we end up in the hell hole we inhabit today. We allow a bunch of cheap, morally bankrupt, and corrupt snake oil salesman to convince us that they are actually genius’s with a plan. And although they have a plan, it’s not one that will make America Great Again. To the contrary, it is the cause of our quick demise. IMHO…:)

He was never an inventor. He was always a selfish businessman who wanted in with the main chance he saw in Trump. Another example of his stupidity is allowing two of his Space X launches to blow up from the same issue. He failed to fix it. That lack of reliability and his total inability to care about people does not lead to trust. He’s a boor, not a visionary. And now, mainly to show off and protect himself from investigation he has done untold damage to this country.

I've been thinking recently that now would be a good time for some activist investors to start agitating for spinning of Tesla Power (powerwalls, roof, megapacks, supercharger) from Tesla. Spin it off, list as a separate entity without him in the leadership team (maybe not even on the board).

There is a lot more value in Tesla Power than the cars now. Could even sell Tesla Cars to Toyota. All the rest (robots etc.) can be bundled into aiX or what ever.

Perhaps a hedge fund (perhaps a hyena type like Elliot or Paul Singer) would be the one to smell blood. Just don't think they would cross Trump to attack Musk. They have too much to lose.

Musk exhibits the moral failings we read about in Ancient Greek tragedies and the consequences. Perhaps the world is coming around and Trump will be next.

He’s saying he is coming back to take care of his business. To me, after his brand has been wiped out by none other than himself, that’s like a neighbor commenting on my dog in the morning during the morning walk. He’s finished.

The only way for Tesla to survive is for Musk to be kicked out. Then, there are multiple alternatives for the company. Musk is poison to the brand. Rumor has it the BoD is quietly looking for a new CEO.

I’m not sure how beneficial it will be for him in the long run to have aligned himself with Donald Trump. In the short term, it may be advantageous, but politicians go through cycles—first they rise, then they fall—and like everyone else, Trump will eventually decline. So what will Musk do then? How will it all end? I consider Musk very intelligent; surely he has thought about this aspect. He probably believes it’s worth it.

Regarding Tesla you are partly, but only partly right. When the model S arrived in Norway it was a game changer. Finally a cool and fast EC. It was totally different from the other existing ECs, it was a car that looked like a car and behaved like a car. An affordable luxury car in a country where luxury cars were deliberately taxed to death. It could be used by affluent people wanting a green alibi. And cost nothing relative to similar styled cars with petroleum engines. So I must say that the very model, the Tesla S, was a very good EC and a good car when it arrived. Having said that, yes, the Supercharger was important. It was valuable because it allowed Tesla owners to drive long distance and recharge easily. However, the market got saturated. When you had covered the major roads, the work was done. The Suoercharger helped, but only up to a limit. In Norway today you can charge from quite a few charger and you don’t have to charge your Tesla only on Teslas superchargers. However Teslas monopoly on ECs looking cool etc is gone. You can get BMWs, Audis, Volvos, Jaguars (they suddenly started selling cars again), Hyundais, Kia… even if you don’t want the Chinese. Or today… Musk. They have long enough range as well. Competition is what is killing Tesla. And of course Elon himself.
