I fully agree with your conclusions about South Korea, but fear it is not in the nature of their government to act decisively. To your point about alcohol consumption: if we do the math - bearing in mind that Russia's population has dropped 3 million over the past few years - it works out to a consumption of 12 litres of alcohol per person, over a 10 month period. If we assume they are drinking something hardcore, like scotch or vodka, that would be a bottle a week. For every adult. Of course, with Putin in charge, they probably need it...

that is a lot of drink for a country that is drowning. Sad. It has become a society of slaves.

SK is going to tread carefully to make sure they don't cross Trump and his anarchist cabinet. They face what likely appears to them to be a Hobson's choice, but isn't. Trump won't notice or care whatever they do.

Even though it is imperative that they act quickly to give Ukraine everything they can, the SK government will wait.

Spouse thought SK could accept all escaping/deserting NK soldiers as immigrants seeking asylum. While I realize this may be easier said than done for NK army members, or any NK citizen, it could potentially reduce the number being placed in Putin’s meat grinder. Or, KJU could punish the families left behind, so maybe no win there after all. Still, one wonders how long populations can be depleted before it becomes untenable?
