Shankar, thanks. Your articles and posts on Substack are excellent. It will be interesting to see where you take your journalism. I’m finding you to be essentially daily reading.
Who is Shankar Narayan? I am impressed with his commentary. Shankar appears to be well informed and a straight shooter, which, in a media world divided between right wing lies and the truth, means that Shankar’s post seem to be liberal. But I googled his name and couldn't find out much about him -- except that his name appears to be an alternate appellation for the Hindu gods Shiva and Vishnu.
Haha, you could have asked me. If you need a short bio, I completed my MBA in Ohio, worked on Wall Street briefly, then started a fin-tech company, and later wanted to start a media firm. But media was a complete unknown, so I told myself, "Let me learn by walking the yards on my own." That’s what I am doing now.
Tell me about it. But you won't believe me. At every turn, at every trouble, I keep meeting good people. There were times, when I had just arrived in the US, complete strangers stepped in to support. I still kind of regret forgetting her name, there was one girl in my class, who diligently took notes for me, when I met with an accident. She did that for an entire semester. People here built me.
How am I supposed to not do my bit for this country.
This all really started when Dubya decided that a war in Afghanistan wasn't high enough profile and devised a series of lies that convinced 90% of Americans that Iraq was both a participant in 9/11 (it wasn't) and a danger to the surrounding countries (it wasn't). Toppling a stable - albeit brutally evil - regime in Iraq, Dubya unleashed unexpected problems beyond just releasing Iran to stop worrying about their homicidal neighbor - in my mind, the worst of the unintended consequences.
The Arab Spring was a massive disaster. Without the toppling of Hussein, the Arab Sping likely never happens. Without the Arab Spring, Syria remains, like Iraq, a brutal but stable dictatorship.
This all goes back to Bush. There were those typical antisemites claiming Bush was merely giving a gift to Netanyahu. But Netanyahu and the Israeli government have always treasured stability in their neighborhood above all else. If they acceded to agreeing with Bush, I assure you it was with tremendous reluctance.
Attacking Iraq is the US' first war of choice I'm aware of has; it put us in this situation. Bad as Trump was in his first administration, Bush was actually worse.
Really sickening. Guns, death and hatred. Thanks for tying it all together so neatly. It is always greed, isn’t it? And neither Muslims nor Christians should be entertaining that, which feels us about the authoritarians and their relationship to religion. It is just a front.
It would be great if the powers that then be in Germany were then coming to the conclusion to bring the $1Mii Syrian refugees back to Syria - that 1M that previous German chancellor Angela Merkel brought into the country in 2016 with 500,000 of them not even getting a proper background check. "We can handle this" (financially, culturally, etc.) was her mantra - her mantra! The general populace did not, neither were the officials in charge due to manpower shortage. They were "overrun".
Merkel, looking back now, criminally claimed that these individuals were much needed for the Germany economy, as these migrants were doctors, nurses, lawyers, engineers, etc. - all so highly qualified. Turns out, that more than 85% have none of these skills, and have no skills that the country needs at all. A publicity stunt of the highest order that the general population had to carry and pay for just so that she could get reelected (and why that happened is a different topic alltogether about the stupidity of the German voters and lack of solid options in the German electorate).
That Merkel actionism, the same unqualified one she applied turning on her heel after Fukushima happened revising her previous decision to extend the run time for the nuclear power plants (and for crying out loud, she holds a Ph.D. in physics!), is one of the reasons why the AFD party (labelled right wing) has gained so much momentum over the course of the last years, and especially in former East Germany, where the Merkel Admin apparently completely neglected during her 4 four-year-term (16 years!) to support a region and people that she herself came from.
Merkels reign and her favoritism of quota females appointments of completely incompetent individuals to position of power
- Ursula von der Leyen: Family Minister, Defense Minister
- Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer: Defense Minister
also paved the way for Germany getting closer and closer politically to the Weimarer Republic conditions - becoming ungovernable, resulting in Hitlers ascending.
Green energy became another mantra - with all the subsidies that were dpent - Germany is plastered with windmills in N Germany - and the majority if them are standing still. Not to worry though - the energy required that these windmills can then not generate are imported from Poland and France - France, whose power generation is 85% nuclear - what an oximoron - and what a Merkel moron!
To close this off: already 2 1/2 years behind schedule, the high power cable being run from
N Germany to the SW is at least underway with it €1.8B to bring power from the windturbines into the region where numerous large car manufacturers are allocated - and that never experienced a shortage in electrical power supply. They were now for the last years - based on Merkel shutting down one of the largest nuclear plants there (Neckarsulm).
Merkel - a carcinoma cell destroying Germany.
She should have been indicted and sentenced for breaking her oath of office "to deflect harm from the German people". Instead, she was just officially celebrated in an official act end of last year on her 70th birthday.
Really interesting, profound analysis, thank you! I dread to think how this will play out after Putin's puppet takes office here in the US and his team idiotically dismantles our strategies and intelligence operations. I'm hopeful that at least at first, the new maladministration will be too incompetent to stop actions already in process; what do you think?

Thank you. You answer helps assess what is up.
Wait. Ohio?!?
I need to reassess this relationship.
🙄 🙂

I can't.
Another great commentary! I get a tremendous boost from your analysis, Shankar. As we would say in Saudi: 'ahsant.
I am glad.

A mighty day that will be, a blessing for many caught between Iranian and Russian vipers.
yes...
Let's hope your analysis is correct!
