Elon Musk bought the election for President Trump. That is the fashion statement in political circles in 2024.
Actually, not true.
Musk is only the fourth-largest mega-donor for Trump & Co this year. This was an election pretty much governed by eight billionaires, who gave a staggering $886,707,072 to help Trump win the election. You might be thinking this is a common occurrence—billionaires giving big bucks to political parties is nothing unusual. It has been happening for a very long time.
Actually, not true.
In 2020, the big bucks were split closer to the middle. Not exactly the middle, but closer to the middle.
Sixty to forty isn’t that bad.
Now, take a look at what happened in 2024. Big donors completely deserted the Democratic Party and lined up fully behind Donald Trump and the Republican Party. Elon Musk is only part of the pool. He is the loudest, and his ability to spread propaganda on X mattered a lot, but when you look at hard cash, 9 out of 10 dollars from the top 10 donors went into buying the presidency for Donald Trump.
