Trump sells out our NATO allies to Putin
Hillary Clinton said this should be front-page news. Agreed
Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, recently made a statement suggesting that he would encourage Russian President Vladimir Putin to attack our European allies. Trump conveyed this message to the allies through a story recounted from his time in the Oval Office.
He described a meeting, where
One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, “Well, sir, if we don’t pay and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us?” I said, “You didn’t pay, you’re delinquent?” He said, “Yes, let’s say that happened.” “No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You gotta pay. You gotta pay your bills.”
This scenario likely never occurred. In what reality would a president of a major country stand up and address Donald Trump as “Sir”? However, despite the improbability of the situation, the essence remains: Donald Trump conveyed a message to both America’s allies and the Kremlin simultaneously.
Donald Trump’s stance isn’t aimed at bolstering American interests, but rather appears to align more closely with the Kremlin’s agenda. This position, masquerading as addressing America’s perceived vulnerabilities, implies that foreign nations are exploiting the United States, benefiting from our financial support while offering little in return.
During the War in Afghanistan, which began in 2001 in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, a coalition of nations joined forces with the U.S. to fight against the Taliban regime and later against various insurgent groups.
At its peak, the coalition comprised more than 40 countries, including NATO member states, partner nations, and other allies. These nations contributed troops, equipment, financial support, and other resources to the mission in Afghanistan. While the United States was the leader of the coalition, the involvement of other nations was significant in various capacities throughout the conflict.
1,159 soldiers from the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and other nations lost their lives in the war against the Taliban, which is slightly less than half of the total number of American fatalities.
Did the United Kingdom experience terrorist attacks? Were Canada, France, or Germany targeted by the Taliban on their soil? Did Italy witness a figure like Mohamed Atta undergoing pilot training? Did Osama bin Laden discuss blowing up towers filled with people in all the countries that joined the conflict initiated by the United States?
Yo, Trump and the right wing… Can you first pay up the debt for the lives these nations lost trying to help America? That bill is way overdue. That bill can never be paid money.
Want to know who NATO is?
The day after 9/11, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) invoked Article 5 from its 1949 founding treaty, stating that an armed attack against one member was an attack against all.
They didn’t wait.
They did not send a message to Bin Laden and the Taliban that they will encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. They acted immediately, in favor of America. Just one day after the attack on the American soil, NATO invoked Article 5.
That is what allies do.
Stand up and be counted, when a friend is hurting.
A bit difficult to understand when you keep asking ‘what is in it for me’ all the time.
The United States invests significant resources in defending its NATO allies.
Really??
EU institutions and member states have allocated considerably more funds towards the defense of Ukraine compared to the United States. The truth is, their challenge lies not in financial resources but rather in defense manufacturing capacity. However, efforts are underway to address this weakness.
How much funding did the United States allocate following Russia’s incursions into Georgia in 2008, Crimea in 2014, and involvement in Syria over the past decade? The policy of inward reflection was initiated during the Obama administration, intensified somewhat under the Trump administration, and showed signs of loosening under the Biden administration before regressing again in the past six months.
Why America has military bases all over the world?
United States has hundreds of military bases and installations in various countries across all continents, including major bases in countries like Germany, Japan, South Korea, and numerous other locations. Some bases are large and serve as major command centers, while others are smaller and support specific missions or operations.
During a speech at the Parmarth Niketan ashram in Rishikesh on October 24, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said, if India perceives a threat, it “will surely fight, on our soil and on foreign soil as well. It is not necessary that we only fight where you want to, but where the threat originates.”
It is not necessary that we only fight where you want to, but where the threat originates.
The key word in his statement is: Fight where the threat originates.
That is national security 101.
You cannot ensure the safety of your family by engaging in conflict within your home. Instead, you secure their safety by confronting the enemy where they reside
The United States is bordered by vast oceans on both sides, providing a natural barrier to direct threats. However, to effectively and swiftly respond to potential dangers to its homeland, it has established a widespread military presence globally. This strategic placement of bases allows for rapid and robust responses to emerging threats. Consider what might occur if the U.S. were to temporarily reduce its presence in the Pacific region.
Let’s read the words of Patrick M. Cronin, Chair of Asia-Pacific Security at the Hudson Institute.
“In this decade, the United States Navy may be displaced as the most formidable maritime presence in the Pacific Ocean. China is determined to challenge America’s ability to project military power forward into the Western Pacific. It seeks to undermine the U.S. capability of standing with its allies and deterring China from using military force to coerce small nations into making concessions on their sovereignty and the enforcement of binding treaty commitments.
Denying Beijing’s quest to become the region’s dominant land and sea power will require more than traditional naval strength. A comprehensive strategy that understands the unfolding fourth industrial revolution and the Chinese government’s problematic activities will be necessary to deny China’s bid for maritime primacy”.
The most important part of his thesis is: “China’s emerging blue-water navy, backed by comprehensive national and maritime power, is “ tipping the balance in the Pacific. ” In the span of 35 years, the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has been transformed from a coastal defense force into a serious peer competitor for the U.S. Navy and its allies in the Western Pacific.
The balance of naval power is particularly favorable to China in its near seas where shore-based missiles and aircraft can support the PLAN fleet. Together, China’s shore-based weapon systems and its fleet of small combatants are likely now sufficient to defend China’s near seas, which frees up the PLA Navy’s growing inventory of large vessels for power projection”.
Donald Trump and the right wing often cite containing China as the reason for dropping NATO. There are a few think tanks that echo the same theory. So, how do you address a threat that you find is so formidable it needs all your attention….. By telling your friends that we are not friends anymore?
LOL.
Seriously…
If right-wingers perceive China as a genuine threat to the United States, then now is the opportune moment to forge even stronger bonds with America’s European allies. It’s time to bolster NATO and uphold democratic values, rather than taking the opposite approach.
America’s Threat is Growing by the Minute
Iran and Russia have established an extremely close relationship. According to a recent report by ISW:
Ukraine’s Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported that elements of Lebanese Hezbollah (LH) and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are training Russian drone operators at the Shayrat Air Base in Syria.
The GUR stated that LH and IRGC trainers are training Russian operators how to use Shahed-136/-131, Ababil-3, and Qods Raab 85 drones and that LH commander Kamal Abu Sadiq is heading the training effort.
Iranian-backed militias and Russian forces are located at Shayrat Air Base, which is the second largest Iranian air base in Syria’s Homs Province after the Tiyas T-4 Air Base.
So, Donald Trump is anti-Iran but pro-Russia. But Iran and Russia are pro each other????
That really sounds like a genius plan to me.
China’s refusal to provide material assistance to Russia has solidified the alliance between Iran, Russia, and North Korea. There is no turning back from this dynamic. The consequence of this deepening relationship is evident in the current situation in Syria, where Iran is training Russian soldiers to operate drones. This trend is likely to escalate.
What is Russia doing in Africa?
The Council of Foreign Relations says, “Russian influence has been gaining ground across Africa in recent years, placing the continent at the crux of the growing geopolitical contest between the Kremlin and the White House. U.S. officials say Russia’s efforts to develop a “multipolar” world order, its deployment of disinformation, and its use of mercenaries have undermined democratic stability and driven conflict on the continent. Russian economic and military involvement in Africa still pales in comparison to that of both China and the West”.
Russia has a foot in the middle east.
They have their foot in Africa.
They have their troops attacking eastern Europe.
They have a strong working relationship with Iran and North Korea.
So, Russia gets to spend so much money on expanding its presence around the world and collecting allies, while America has to do the exact opposite, and according to the MAGA world, this is how they will make America Great Again.
Oh. Yeah.
Are they trying to Make America Great Again or Make Soviet Union Great Again?
My Ukraine stories are in the public domain, outside the paywall.
