Trump is banking on his secret affair with mainstream media to defeat Kamala Harris
MSM will do their best
Why did the media hold Hillary Clinton to one standard in 2016 and apply the exact opposite to Donald Trump in 2024?
In 2016, FBI Director James Comey’s announcement about reopening the investigation into Clinton’s private email server marked a turning point in the election. Though Comey merely stated the investigation was being reopened, the mainstream media amplified the story, ensuring it reached every corner of the nation.
They didn’t just report the facts; they magnified the narrative, stirring speculation and insinuations that reverberated across the country. Rather than subtle whispers, the media orchestrated a collective, alarmed response — fueling a shift in public perception and, ultimately, benefiting Trump’s campaign.
It was enough to lift Trump in the Midwest and Pennsylvania. Using the same yardstick they invented in 2016, Jack Smith’s revelations should have been front and center, dominating the national conversation.
But naaa, that isn’t the case.
One standard for Trump, and a completely different one for Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. There’s no money with the Dems, folks. No money at all. What will they do, those poor folks? They’re in a fight for survival, so who cares about the country or their responsibility as the fourth estate?
Trump and the mainstream media are in a secret affair. Donald Trump is banking on his “secret lover” to save his campaign in the final stretch.
He’ll be in Coachella, LA County tonight, and at Madison Square Garden in New York on October 27th. He’ll lose by double digits in both states.
Unorthodox strategy, right?
More like the “banking on media to save my campaign” strategy.
Sure, visiting rural Georgia or suburban North Carolina would boost turnout, but the media will beam footage of small crowds, empty seats, and people walking out as Trump repeats the same tired lines — me, me, me; I, I, I; she’s bad, they’re all bad, I’m the genius. We all know what he’s going to say, and when he does, people leave.
Not exactly great footage.
But what if Trump visits population centers like New York and California? Tens of thousands of people packed into a stadium. The media would love it. “Look at that energy! Look at the crowds flocking to see the emperor!” It’s perfect for their coverage — so many eyeballs to milk all the way to election day.
And what about Jack Smith’s revelations? Shouldn’t they be covered? “Yeah, yeah, keep that at the bottom, if there’s time. Otherwise, let’s get more photos from the Trump rally. It’ll look great.”
Trump and Putin know exactly how the U.S. mainstream media operates. Media is not getting played by them; they’re playing with them.
How much impact will this have on the 2024 presidential race?
It will certainly help Trump at the margins, boosting his struggling numbers in the Midwest and Pennsylvania. It won’t be a massive surge that propels him to the lead, but it will help nonetheless.
Harris cannot lose focus. She needs to stay on her path and not get distracted by what Trump and the mainstream media are doing. TV isn’t everything — it used to be, but not anymore. If TV were still king, how did podcasts become a 2 billion-dollar industry? That was time and money taken from the mainstream media and given to alternative platforms.
I’m glad Kamala Harris continues to avoid mainstream media interviews. She’s going small, making appearances on platforms like ‘Call Her Daddy’ and Howard Stern. She needs to keep doing that and not give the mainstream media too much of her time. She should treat them the way they treat her — like a second-class citizen.
This presidential race will be won by the side with the better ground game. The numbers in the battleground states remain extremely tight across all seven key states. Neither side is comfortable with less than 30 days to go before election day.
Ultimately, it will come down to turnout — whoever gets their supporters to the polls will win.
On that front, Kamala Harris is far ahead of Donald Trump. She just needs to stay the course.
I think that once again, you are bang on! I am wondering whether the switch to finer-grained online media is a contributing factor to our perception that Hillary was covered differently than Trump. Would you know of anywhere to get data on the myriad of online articles about the Harris-Trump fight?
