And this wasn’t just any official. It was Lt. Gen. Alexus G. Grynkewich, the newly appointed Supreme Allied Commander Europe. The role of Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) is one of the most powerful positions in NATO, traditionally held by a senior U.S. general or admiral.
Yesterday, during his nomination hearing before the U.S. Senate, he said:
“Senator, I believe Ukraine can win. When your own homeland is under threat, you fight with a tenacity that's hard for us to fully grasp—unless we've been in that situation ourselves.”
