Call it a coincidence.

First, I came across a post by the Head of Russian State Media, Margarita Simonyan, publicly boasting about comments made by Robert Kennedy Jr., who said, “RT is the only place where I can speak openly.” She then added, “This is what it means to interfere in elections in advance.”

Russia has done a lot over the past several years to interfere in US elections, but their efforts pale in comparison to the greatest con pulled off by one of the most gifted con men in our history: Elon Musk.

In July of this year, X’s algorithm was tweaked to boost GOP-leaning accounts, along with Elon Musk’s own account.

The study, led by Professor Timothy Graham of QUT and Professor Mark Andrejevic of Monash University, analyzed 56,184 posts from various accounts between January 1, 2024, and October 25, 2024. By examining multiple engagement metrics, the researchers sought to uncover evidence of algorithmic bias favoring specific accounts on X.

What they found confirmed what many of us had suspected for months:

“Across all metrics (view counts, retweet counts, and likes counts), the Bayesian change point detection method identified a structural break for Musk's metrics around July 13, 2024. Detailed statistics are provided in the Appendix A and we provide summary findings here for each metric under analysis”.

And what a day to change the algorithm to spread his incoming propaganda across the entire platform.

On July 14, 2024, Mr. Elon Musk officially endorsed Donald Trump.
