It’s a Lie—And There’s a Calculated Reason Behind It
“Social Security won’t be touched, other than this fraud or something we’re going to find. It’s going to be strengthened, but won’t be touched. Medicare, Medicaid, none of that stuff is going to be touched,” Donald Trump said in an interview yesterday.
That is a lie. A deliberate one.
Of course, Social Security cannot be touched unless the GOP has 60 votes in the Senate. But it is an undiluted lie when he says Medicaid won’t be touched.
In late January, House Republicans went hunting for ways to squeeze money out of everyday Americans and hand it to billionaires. They found their target: Medicaid. And Mike Johnson openly admitted it. According to Johnson, adding work requirements to Medicaid is “a very popular measure.” They’re coming for $100 billion—stripped from Medicaid—over the next decade.
